Battle of the Bulge - Spring Health and Fitness Accountability

Spring is here and do you know what that means?  SUMMER is right around the corner!  Yep...bathing suits, beaches, pools, shorts, tank tops... All of that!

Well, I know sometimes it's easy to let winter go by and stay cuddled up because it's cold and a good excuse to allow the pounds to pack on!  Not that it's something we set out to do...but it just happens!!

If you're ready to get that winter layer off and feel confident for summer then NOW is your time to do that!  Seriously, it's March...by the time the kids are out of school by June, you'll want to be ready to feel good and be active!  That's a solid 2 months that you have to really be serious about getting back in shape!

The New Year is literally less than 5 days away!  Can you believe it?  I know everyone is quickly trying to make last minute purchases and wrap the last gifts before Christmas in a few days!  But I'm sure there is one more thing on your mind...or at least in the BACK of your mind!!  We all have probably had a few more treats, parties and extra calories packed on this December, am I right?  It seems like there are just too many temptations around this time of year.

You may be just counting down the days until the "feasting" and Christmas cookies are over.  I love this time of year, but it is definitely hard to stay on track with nutrition!

My Journey begins with TurboFire, Chalean Extreme and a New Focus!

Well, it's been a little while since I've done an update like this about my current fitness program and journey in my own health and fitness.  A lot has gone on and I haven't been ready to share, but...the time has come!

I have been what feels like a bit of a yo-yo experience since before the first of the year.  I've been struggling with some different things like, hormone imbalance, low thyroid, some weight gain and as you can imagine it's been very frustrating and really confusing for me!  I've stayed very consistent with my exercise but have felt like nothing has changed for me with the way my clothes fit and the way I feel about myself.

I've really struggled whether or not to share with my readers about this, but then realized that I owe it to you!  I know that there are many of you out there struggling with various things like this too!

Goals are not a January 1st thing...  Chalean Extreme & TurboFire, New Focus, www.HealthyFitFocused.com Honestly, I think my symptoms are very mild.  It's been probably a good 8-9 months that I've noticed my weight just not doing anything but slowly creep up.  It didn't matter how strict I was with my nutrition (sometimes I was more strict than other times)!  To be honest, I'm higher on the scale then I've been in a LONG time! (Now, I do not weigh myself often, maybe 4 times a month, but I notice most in my clothes).  I will say though, that working out has positively contributed to me being able to stay where I'm at (with my weight for the most part) and it's helped the weight I have gained be proportioned evenly throughout my whole body.  So, probably by someone just looking at me they wouldn't be able to notice too much, but I know how I FEEL in my clothes and that they feel tighter!!  So, ya'll who struggle with this too...exercise really does make a difference even if it doesn't show in the scale!

So I have been to a couple doctors, I've done some research on my own, I've looked at the medical route, the natural route, the essential oils route...everything!  I am still testing out the waters some, but I do know my hormones are off, my thyroid is under active (fortunately it's mild right now) and I've found myself feeling emotional, lousy at times and just kind of blah and unmotivated.

At the same time, I've been trying out something different with my fitness and nutrition.  I'm still in the beginning stages of being a guinea pig on my own test...but I'll keep you updated on the progress. I've done some research on intermittent fasting and I'm giving it a shot!

My fitness is changing up too!  I wanted to really challenge myself more than I ever had.  My mother-in-law has been doing Chalean Extreme for a months now and I'm loving her results and feeling the need to add in some weights in a new way!  At the same time, I've been in a coach challenge group with some of my amazing teammates and I've been challenged by a few of them to do both Chalean Extreme and TurboFire!!  I've never done either of these programs and have always wanted to.  Honestly, I never wanted to move past the 30 minute workouts!!!  I must say though...I'm LOVING it!  I never thought I'd love doing 2 programs at once like this.  But the combo of weights and high intensity cardio is amazing!  Now, I won't continue this much for my workouts all the time, but right now it's a great change for me!  I am really liking pushing myself this way!!

So...I'll keep you posted on my progress and my workouts!  For now, I'm on day 4 of the programs and really enjoying the challenge!

Which Fix for You? 21 Day Fix Original or 21 Day Fix Extreme?

Well, we are only 2 days away from the release of the 21 Day Fix Extreme!!!  On February 2, 2015, the 21 Day Fix Extreme will take the internet by storm!!  I'm super excited for the possibility of this program!  The Original 21 Day Fix was wildly popular and sold out within 48 hours of being released!  It has contented to be one of the most (if not the most) popular program...because it combines both your fitness and nutrition!  It's a combination of both, which is needed for success in your weight loss or any other kind of transformation you are looking for!

I recommend you start out with the 21 Day Fix (Original) to get you started.  This will get you a baseline of fitness and nutrition in order to get you started in reaching your goals!  This teaches you the meal plan and gives you the knowledge you need for nutrition to continue a lifelong way of eating!  My goal is to help you succeed at this level first before you move on!

Intermediate/Advanced Fitness Level - 21 Day Fix Extreme Launch Group
If you're ready to take your fitness and nutrition to the next level then this is for you!  I recommend you have a good baseline of fitness.  Each workout uses weights and is not for the beginner!  This will be perfect for those who have done those more extreme programs.  There is a modifier in each workout, but she is still working hard!  This group will be designed to support you through this program and give you the guidance you need to make it through the 21 Days successfully!!

What is Required to be a Part of the Group?
In order for you to be a part of either the 21 Day Fix or the 21 Day Fix Extreme groups you will:

1)  Need to make me your Coach.  

2)  Fill out the Challenge Group Application (or below) to be accepted into the Challenge!

My Journey from Shape Magazine to a Daily Exercise Habit to Incorporating Nutrition and the 21 Day Fix!

The other day I was sitting with a friend who had a bunch of magazines lying around.  I'm not much of a magazine person at this time in my life, I honestly don't have the time or interest to sit down and read all the articles!  Nor do I want to waste the extra expense if I don't fully read it!

However, looking through her Shape magazine it suddenly brought me back to some memories I had of always searching for a SOLUTION for my up and down weight and feeling good about myself!  Years ago, I would often purchase magazines like Shape or Fitness because I was just trying to find a way that I could get in shape like so many of those women featured in the magazine, who knows...they could have all been airbrushed...but nonetheless I was searching for what to do.  I would cut out the pages of the magazine and try and "trouble shoot" my problem areas...my tummy, hips, thighs...whatever it may be!  I would do some of those exercises for a couple days and then not continue.

I just remember always wishing I could get results like that.  Thinking if I just followed those 5 exercises that it could happen.  But there were many parts missing.  What were they???  For me, this is what was missing:

Accountability is the glue that times commitment to the result!, I'm ready to help you get the accountability you need to get the results you want.  www.HealthyFitFocused.com 1) Accountability:  The magazine clip out didn't check in with me daily.  It sat on my dresser not even caring if I did the exercises or not!

2)  You can't trouble shoot your problem areas:  These 5 or so workouts they would give in the magazine articles were great, but you're not going to get the overall body transformation from 5 different exercise moves.  It didn't suggest full body training or cardio in these articles!

3)  No nutritional plan:  With these articles I would clip out, there was nothing that talked about your nutrition and that in order to get results like these models you've got to change your daily nutritional habits.  Now, it may say a snip it about nutrition, but it didn't teach me how to do it!  That's what I needed...someone to help me understand the full extent of how to eat healthy, what that looked like and what kind of portions I needed have each meal!  I was clueless what that looked like!

4) Daily Motivation:  I am someone who thrives from motivation!  Sometimes I can motivate myself, but not in all areas of my life.  Especially at the time of my magazine clip outs...I was motivated for the 30 minutes that I was reading that magazine.  But it stopped as soon as I set the clipping on my dresser!  I forgot about it, I got overwhelmed thinking I would never get results like I want...I sabotaged myself just in my thinking!  So... I quit!

5)  Support:  The magazine clipping didn't give me the support I needed.  It was a resource, a picture, an ideal that I felt like I couldn't reach.  It was not someone on the other side of the clipping saying..."Don't give up", "You can do this", "Let me help you"!  Last time I checked, magazines didn't talk or give me personal support and daily motivation and help!!

For many years I went through this process of clipping exercise moves thinking this was the way to go.  But it never worked for me!  I continued to find things that I thought would work...gyms and classes that I would attend for only a month or 2, back in college I did Jenny Craig, I tried various other activities or exercises and it just didn't work for me.  Why?  For me, it came down to support and motivation.  I discovered that I work best and get the greatest success when someone has my back!  When someone is asking me how my day went, when someone is giving me to tools to know how to eat and how much to eat, when I have the daily support and motivation!

So...what was that for me?  It was finally discovering a Challenge Group.  Plugging into the daily support, motivation, guidance, teaching and a group of people working toward the same goal!!  It was surrendering myself to get accountability from others who have succeed, who have gone through the same testing of other things that I did.

Pretty much, in a nutshell...it's what I mentioned above.  It's a support/accountability group.

When I first joined a challenge group, I was introduced to clean eating.  I learned the basics of it and had great success.  However, when the 21 Day Fix was first released in February 2014, this brought it to a whole new level of understanding.  It taught me what were the appropriate portion sizes to have at each meal and how much of each food group I should be eating every day. It took all the guess work out of what I needed in order to be successful!

It's a NEW YEAR...Time for a NEW YOU!?!?

Merry Christmas to you all!!  I hope you have had a wonderful Holiday season with your loved ones and friends.  I love being able to wind down a little bit toward the end of the year and really spend some great time with my friends and family!

It's NOT too early to start thinking about what new goals you have for this new year!

According to USA.org and Statistic Brain websites (just to name a couple), Losing Weight is at the #1 spot for people's New Year's resolutions!!  Is it YOUR #1 resolution for 2015??  Forbes.com tells us that only 8% of people achieve their new years goals!  EIGHT PERCENT!!  That's it!  Sound kind of depressing??  Well...that's about to change!!

I used to ask for a gym membership every year for Christmas.  Some times I would get it (ya know, the one from Costco that's a year membership) and sometimes I wouldn't.  But I too was always one setting these goals at the beginning of the year.  I'd go to the gym religiously for the first couple weeks... then, I would start to slow and then be sporadic...and then just kind of give up all together.  Have you ever been there before??  Do you know what was missing from those situations??  ACCOUNTABILITY!!!  I had no one holding me accountable to going to the gym and sticking to my goals.  So, I fell off the bandwagon, just like everyone else did too!

So What is Going on January 5th?
Starting on January 5, 2015, I will be hosing a New Year, New You Health and Fitness Challenge.  This will be a 30 day group (with option to continue after the 30 days).  

You will be placed into a private Facebook group, so only members of the group can see what is being posted!  I will post your daily mind set tip or motivation.  We'll go through how to create a customized meal plan that will help you reach your health and fitness goals.  I'll give you recipes, snack ideas, tips, motivation and keep you accountable. I will not not let you fail!  If you show up each and every day and commit to your results, you will succeed!!

What is Required to be a Part of the Group?
In order for you to be a part of this New Year, New You Health and Fitness Challenge, you will:

1)  Need to make me your Coach.  

2)  Fill out the Challenge Group Application (or below) to be accepted into the Challenge!

3)  After you fill out the application, I will get back in touch with you within 24 hours...I will then, based on your goals and fitness level, help you choose the best Beachbody Fitness Program that will best help you reach your goals!

REQUIREMENTS: You must be doing a Beachbody Fitness Program AND 
drinking Shakeology for the length of the Challenge.  

**You will replace 1 meal a day with Shakeology for the next 30-60 days to give your body 1 meal that is supercharged with ingredients that will give you natural energy, cravings will be curbed and you will stay full for at least 3 hours... its equivalent to 6 salads in one meal.**

Jiggle Free July Challenge

We are half way through the summer.  Are you enjoying the way you feel in your bathing suit?  Do you love being in your skin at the beach?  Well, it's not too late to change it up and start feeling better about yourself and GET HEALTHY!!

Starting July 21st we are going to commit to making ourselves JIGGLE FREE!  Yes, that's right...it's Jiggle Free July!  That means getting rid of all the things in our lives that make us feel "jiggly" and icky!  Who's ready for this?  Are YOU??

What is the Jiggle Free July Challenge?
So many times we find ourselves wanting to change...eat healthier, lose weight, workout more.  But something is missing when we try and do it all by ourselves.  When things get tough, life gets stressful, we don't see immediate results, it's easy to quit, give up, say we will start tomorrow.  Well, what we need is ACCOUNTABILITY, SUPPORT, ENCOURAGEMENT to keep moving forward to reach our goals!

That's what this challenge is all about.  It's determining our health and fitness goals, working together as a group to hold one another accountable for our actions and choices we make on a daily basis that effect our results.

You will receive daily support, accountability, and motivation.  You'll learn how to meal plan, eat clean, stick to your plan while eating out or at a party.  You will come away with the tools to make your new health habits a lifestyle change, not a fad diet!


What do I need to be a part of the Jiggle Free July Challenge?
In order to be considered for the Jiggle Free July Challenge, you will need to:

  • Fill out the application below
  • Create a FREE Beachbody account so that I am your coach
  • Choose a Beachbody Fitness Program (I can help you decide and I will talk about some popular ones below).
  • Commit to drinking Shakeology for at least the first month of the challenge (watch this video)
  • Be committed to YOURSELF and to the GROUP in order to get YOUR BEST RESULTS!

Focus T25:  This is my very first Beachbody fitness program.  It is still one of my favorites.  It is 25 minutes long and a fast paced good sweaty workout!  There's no messing around with this, you get in and get it done!  This too is for any fitness level.  There is a modifier for every workout that you can follow until you are ready to move onto the regular moves.  It's loads of fun and you'll be finished and sweaty!  If you're busy and don't have a lot of time...I know you can find 25 minutes in your day to workout!!  Click here for more information on T25!
