Which Fix for You? 21 Day Fix Original or 21 Day Fix Extreme?

Well, we are only 2 days away from the release of the 21 Day Fix Extreme!!!  On February 2, 2015, the 21 Day Fix Extreme will take the internet by storm!!  I'm super excited for the possibility of this program!  The Original 21 Day Fix was wildly popular and sold out within 48 hours of being released!  It has contented to be one of the most (if not the most) popular program...because it combines both your fitness and nutrition!  It's a combination of both, which is needed for success in your weight loss or any other kind of transformation you are looking for!

Beginners/Intermediate Fitness Level - 21 Day Fix February 9th Group
I recommend you start out with the 21 Day Fix (Original) to get you started.  This will get you a baseline of fitness and nutrition in order to get you started in reaching your goals!  This teaches you the meal plan and gives you the knowledge you need for nutrition to continue a lifelong way of eating!  My goal is to help you succeed at this level first before you move on!

Intermediate/Advanced Fitness Level - 21 Day Fix Extreme Launch Group
If you're ready to take your fitness and nutrition to the next level then this is for you!  I recommend you have a good baseline of fitness.  Each workout uses weights and is not for the beginner!  This will be perfect for those who have done those more extreme programs.  There is a modifier in each workout, but she is still working hard!  This group will be designed to support you through this program and give you the guidance you need to make it through the 21 Days successfully!!

Super Bowl Spread... 6 Tips for a Healthy Super Bowl!

So it is Superbowl weekend.  This is a day that so many people throw all caution to the wind and just have a feast of a day!  Well, this year doesn't have to be that way!  I want to share with you some tips and recipes that you can use on GAME DAY!!!

6 Tips for a Healthy Super Bowl...Clean Eating Recipes,

First off, if you are going to someone's house, then you have to control the controllable!  What do I mean by that?  Bring something healthy to share with others!!!  It is never good to come empty handed, so why not share some healthy options with everyone!?!

Healthy Tips on Super Bowl Weekend!

1)  Drink your Shakeology before the party!
  - I know I plan on having my Shakeology before I get to my brother's house!  It will keep me full and satisfied!!

2)  Bring a Healthy Dish
  - Recipes Below!

3)  Always have a drink in your hand (WATER!)
  - Fill yourself up on water...always be sipping on it!

4)  Fill up on veggies
  - Make sure you offer to bring veggies, that way you know you'll have something to munch on!

5)  Allow yourself a meal...don't be a grazer
  - Make yourself a plate.  If you're going to eat then portion out your food.  Have yourself a meal and don't stand by the food table and just pick at the food!  You'll never truly know how much you are eating!

6)  If you're going to "cheat", plan your "cheat" ahead of time and remember it's not a CHEAT DAY...give yourself a limit!  
 - Pick your poison...Example.  Choose to have 1 beer or glass of wine.  OR 1 serving of nachos, OR 1 serving of dessert...get the point.  ONE of any of these...not ONE of ALL of these!!!

The Best Coffee Ever... and 21 Day Fix Approved!!!

Ok, so I was introduced to this coffee "recipe" couple months ago from some coaches on our team.  So this is NOT my creation, but it's definitely my coffee love that I crave each morning!!

So I used to be a Splenda-holic, embarrassingly, I would use 4 Splenda in my coffee (grande size at Starbucks)...FOUR!?!?!  Do you know how ultra sweet that is?  Oh my goodness.  It was absolutely SO sweet and because I was using artificial sweeteners it actually would make me crave more sweet things!

So, about a year and a half ago, I decided enough was enough...I was starting to eat clean and decided this was one area I needed a MAJOR change!  So, I decided to go cold turkey!  I cut it out completely and stopped using anything to sweeten my coffee.  It took me a while to get used to it, but I really just needed to lose that propensity for so much sweetness.

The other thing I needed to majorly change with my coffee was adding 1/2 and 1/2 to my coffee!  I would add about 4 tablespoons of cream to my coffee each morning.  Do you know how many calories and fat that is per year?

4 Tablespoons of 1/2 & 1/2 per morning:
   -- 25,550 calories/year
   -- 2,190 grams of fat/year

This is equal to an extra 7.3 pounds per year just from my cream in my coffee ALONE!!!

This was absolutely MIND BLOWING when I sat down and did this math!  I couldn't believe it!  Do you know that was enough to make me change what I was doing.

Now, I do understand that there is still fat and calories in my recipe below, however, this fits perfectly into my 21 Day Fix meal plan and I simply use a "fat" teaspoon for this!!!  1/2 & 1/2 is NOT 21 Day Fix friendly!!!'s my "Best Coffee Ever" recipe...21 Day Fix Approved!!!

  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp Coconut Oil - depending on amount of coffee (equal to 1/2 teaspoon on the Fix)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Coffee

Hand blender or blender with glass container.

Put the coconut oil and vanilla extract into your coffee (I place it directly into my coffee pot) and blend!  I have a Cuisinart Smart Stick (hand blender) and stick that directly into my pot and blend!

UPDATE:  I've gotten a lot of questions about suggestions on what to do if you don't have a hand blender or glass container, or if you're at work and can't use a blender.  

  1. Get a larger mason jar (like a 4 cup one) and put the lid on and and get a good arm workout by shaking it up!!!
  2. Get an IKEA, $5.99 frother...these things are awesome.  They are cheap and small but work really well.  WARNING:  You've got to have some space in your mug for it to whip the coffee around or it will be all over you and you'll have a burned hand!!  So again, a mason jar may be a good investment for your morning cup of Joe!  Click HERE to see the IKEA Frother

Insanity Max:30 Women's Progress Update and Meal Plan - Week 5 & 6

Ok, so I 'm a bit behind in my Insanity Max apologies!  Well, 2 weeks ago I started month 2!  I was surprised to find how much harder it really was!  I know I have been getting so much stronger, but even with my gained strength and increased stamina it was still a week of the hardest workouts I've ever done!

I was sore...but could still walk!

So the line up for month 2 is this (and in my on words...month one on crack!)

Monday:  Max Out Cardio
Tuesday:  Max Out Power
Wednesday:  Max Out Sweat
Thursday:  Max Out Strength (I think this is my favorite...with major jello arms)
Friday:  Friday Fight: Round 2 (absolutely the toughest workout ever!) the biggest difference I notice from month 1 to month 2 is the breaks.  Shaun T doesn't mess around in the second month.  The breaks are fewer and further between...So, I've found that once I max out, then if I need a drink I have to excuse myself and get one real quick and come back.

I am getting better on my max out times, but in month 2 I have noticed that I max out SO many more times throughout the rest of the workout!  It just doesn't stop coming!!!  You really have to push through and it truly is a Mind Over Matter mentality that I'm learning how to better do each day!

So week one I got through pushing hard and I wasn't necessarily "can't walk sore" but I more so had really tired out muscles.  I got through the week though...

As week 2 of month 2 came around I assessed my last 5 weeks and realized that while I was getting stronger and really doing well in the nutrition was NOT spot on!  I needed a major change in my mind and how I was doing my nutrition.  I'm getting good results so far but not what I want.  The number on the scale is pretty much the same but I know that my clothes are fitting better!

So, it was time to do a clean sweep of my nutrition and that's what I did this went perfectly and I really stuck to my meal plan.  I think I'm going to keep it mostly the same for a while!

Now, week 2 workout...last week it killed me!  I struggled so much with energy.  It was a really texting and trying week for me!  I really struggled with having the energy to get through my workout and I just felt my body was really struggling to push itself!  I've not felt that way in a long time.  So I did sleep in some days and worked out later in the morning.  That helped.  But I made it through the week (barely!).  I was really happy to have Saturday as a rest body needed that for sure!

My plan for week 7 is to continue to be right on my nutrition.  That is the magic of the program!!!  It doesn't happen with a poor diet...or even a healthy diet of too much food!  That's where I fell into.  I was eating healthy but not the proper nutrition!

My Journey from Shape Magazine to a Daily Exercise Habit to Incorporating Nutrition and the 21 Day Fix!

The other day I was sitting with a friend who had a bunch of magazines lying around.  I'm not much of a magazine person at this time in my life, I honestly don't have the time or interest to sit down and read all the articles!  Nor do I want to waste the extra expense if I don't fully read it!

However, looking through her Shape magazine it suddenly brought me back to some memories I had of always searching for a SOLUTION for my up and down weight and feeling good about myself!  Years ago, I would often purchase magazines like Shape or Fitness because I was just trying to find a way that I could get in shape like so many of those women featured in the magazine, who knows...they could have all been airbrushed...but nonetheless I was searching for what to do.  I would cut out the pages of the magazine and try and "trouble shoot" my problem tummy, hips, thighs...whatever it may be!  I would do some of those exercises for a couple days and then not continue.

I just remember always wishing I could get results like that.  Thinking if I just followed those 5 exercises that it could happen.  But there were many parts missing.  What were they???  For me, this is what was missing:

Accountability is the glue that times commitment to the result!, I'm ready to help you get the accountability you need to get the results you want. 1) Accountability:  The magazine clip out didn't check in with me daily.  It sat on my dresser not even caring if I did the exercises or not!

2)  You can't trouble shoot your problem areas:  These 5 or so workouts they would give in the magazine articles were great, but you're not going to get the overall body transformation from 5 different exercise moves.  It didn't suggest full body training or cardio in these articles!

3)  No nutritional plan:  With these articles I would clip out, there was nothing that talked about your nutrition and that in order to get results like these models you've got to change your daily nutritional habits.  Now, it may say a snip it about nutrition, but it didn't teach me how to do it!  That's what I needed...someone to help me understand the full extent of how to eat healthy, what that looked like and what kind of portions I needed have each meal!  I was clueless what that looked like!

It takes motivation to get started but the habit is what keeps you going.
4) Daily Motivation:  I am someone who thrives from motivation!  Sometimes I can motivate myself, but not in all areas of my life.  Especially at the time of my magazine clip outs...I was motivated for the 30 minutes that I was reading that magazine.  But it stopped as soon as I set the clipping on my dresser!  I forgot about it, I got overwhelmed thinking I would never get results like I want...I sabotaged myself just in my thinking!  So... I quit!

5)  Support:  The magazine clipping didn't give me the support I needed.  It was a resource, a picture, an ideal that I felt like I couldn't reach.  It was not someone on the other side of the clipping saying..."Don't give up", "You can do this", "Let me help you"!  Last time I checked, magazines didn't talk or give me personal support and daily motivation and help!!

For many years I went through this process of clipping exercise moves thinking this was the way to go.  But it never worked for me!  I continued to find things that I thought would work...gyms and classes that I would attend for only a month or 2, back in college I did Jenny Craig, I tried various other activities or exercises and it just didn't work for me.  Why?  For me, it came down to support and motivation.  I discovered that I work best and get the greatest success when someone has my back!  When someone is asking me how my day went, when someone is giving me to tools to know how to eat and how much to eat, when I have the daily support and motivation!

So...what was that for me?  It was finally discovering a Challenge Group.  Plugging into the daily support, motivation, guidance, teaching and a group of people working toward the same goal!!  It was surrendering myself to get accountability from others who have succeed, who have gone through the same testing of other things that I did.

I'm doing this for ME.  Commit to your daily success with the 21 Day Fix, get the results you want and the support you need!

What is my favorite program to get started especially for those who don't have nutritional understanding?
When I first joined a challenge group, I was introduced to clean eating.  I learned the basics of it and had great success.  However, when the 21 Day Fix was first released in February 2014, this brought it to a whole new level of understanding.  It taught me what were the appropriate portion sizes to have at each meal and how much of each food group I should be eating every day. It took all the guess work out of what I needed in order to be successful!

Roasted Sweet Potatoes - 21 Day Fix Approved Recipe

Ever since I was a little girl I've always loved sweet potatoes...Now this is still a staple for me in my meal plans!

So, there are tons of health benefits to sweet potatoes.  Honestly, I'm not going to go into huge detail about it...but if you want to read about those, here's an article I found that gives great info!!  (Health Benefits of Sweet Potatoes,

Sweet potatoes have become a huge staple in my diet as I have been eating clean.  It's a great carb (or yellow container if you follow the 21 Day Fix nutrition guide!) to use daily and is so satisfying!!

Of course there are many ways to make your sweet potatoes, cooking them whole, roasting, pureed, and I'm sure there are more!

My favorite ways are roasting and just good old fashioned cooking them whole!

  • Sweet Potatoes (I like to have leftovers, so I will do a 3-4 medium to large potatoes)
  • about 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • salt (optional)
  • cinnamon (optional)
  • (Or any other spice or herb you'd like to add)
Other herb options:
Fresh Sage


  1. Chop Sweet potatoes into cubes
  2. melt coconut oil and toss the sweet potatoes in it
  3. sprinkle salt (if desired)
  4. sprinkle cinnamon (if desired)
  5. top with herbs (if desired)
Bake at 425 degrees for 35-45 minutes or until desired softness.

"Apple Pie" apples! [21 Day Fix Recipe]

Ok so this really isn't apple pie...but when you are wanting something that sure taste a lot like apple pie and the comfort memories that Apple pie brings...but without the calories, then here ya go!!

With the launch of the 21 Day Fix extreme around the corner I decided to get back strict on the 21 Day Fix meal plan and get my containers back out again and really get my portions back in check. 

So it was time for my snack and I cut up a green apple...well it was quite tart so I decided to cook them and see how it turned out!  They were amazing!!!!

Sprinkled some cinnamon on it and there you go...21 Day Fix approved "Apple Pie" apples!!

All you need is 1 green apple and cinnamon. This is equal to 1 purple container!!


Cut one green apple into chunks. Place in a small sauce pan with about a tablespoon or so of water. Let it cook for about 3-5 minutes while stirring, or until desired softness. Pour into a bowl and sprinkle with cinnamon!  Enjoy!!

Super Saturday Pittsburgh...more than your typical Saturday!

While my team is all over the country the majority of the top leaders of the larger team I'm a part of, The Dream Team, is based in and around the Pittsburgh area. I've had the privilege of making it to a couple events that have been hosted in Pittsburgh. One was a retreat in 2013, just after I became a coach. And then of course, last weekend...Super Saturday.

Super Saturday is an event through Beachbody and hosted quarterly all over the country at hundreds of locations. But this one was very special for a few reasons... 1st my coach, my friend, my mentor was being awarded as top coach in all of Beachbody!!  2nd, the CEO of Beachbody, Carl Daikeler plus Autumn Calabrese (creator of the 21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme, new program being released February 2nd) were going to be present...and...I was invited to a very special dinner hosted by Melanie, my coach to celebrate all her Diamonds!!!  So, I invested into coming out East, meeting my Beachbody family and celebrating with so many others I've developed relationships with. Not to mention amazing training from top coaches in the company!!!

On Friday evening we had a huge celebration honoring Melanie, learning about some amazing new products that will be released through Beachbody.  We found out about Beachbody On Demand!!  A way that Beachbody will be streaming some of their amazing fitness programs so that you can have the workouts on any of your mobile devices and take your fitness ANYWHERE!!  We did a live workout with Autumn Calabrese and her new 21 Day Fix Extreme!!

Saturday, we gathered together and had a 3 hour training with some of the TOP coaches in all of Beachbody!  This training is something that is normal for our team.  We are constantly getting fed from our top coaches.  This is not a business you have to figure out how to do by yourself.  If you decide that you want to be a part of my team, rest assured that you will get training, support and all the tips and tricks to making your business successful!!

Saturday was just time to party!  I had been invited to a Diamond Dinner Celebration and then we moved over to a Champagne Bar where we met the rest of the team and just had a great time of getting to know each other better and have a great time!'s not all business...there was definitely fun involved on this trip too!

So...what have I gained from all this?  I have gained a deeper desire, passion, drive and belief in this company, in the products, in the other amazing coaches I have met, but more importantly a deeper passion and belief in myself!  A belief that I can make a difference. That I can be successful and have the FREEDOM from debt, time my kids, my husband, freedom to travel like we want...and more!  That's why I do what I do!!  THEN, not only is that dream for myself, but I have a dream for MY coaches or challengers who step up and say "I want to change my life or just 1 persons life". Then they decide to pay it forward and take a leap of faith to become a coach. We are changing lives and making a difference!!

What Equipment is Required?

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT- Resistance band(s) or Weights (not included in Base kit)
RECCOMENDED EQUIPMENT -Yoga Mat or Beachbody Core Comfort Mat are helpful but not required.

What about the Nutrition?
Let's face it...this is probably a sore spot for many people...the 21 Day Fix allowed "cheats" like wine or chocolate.  However, this is an EXTREME program promised to give you EXTREME results if you commit to it ALL, nutrition and fitness!  So, in order to bring Extreme results, you need Extreme nutrition.  This is a 100% clean eating plan for the FULL 21 days!  There are options for you throughout the program (like eating out) however there are detailed guidelines.  Nutrition is KEY to your success!!!

The Beginnings, a Dream, a Belief, then Action! Helping Coaches Build a 6-Figure Income!

I've been a Beachbody coach now for 17 months to the day. It all started with me searching on Pinterest for a change. I had just finished running a 1/2 marathon 3 months prior and had been running a lot and training for that for so long, but during my training I had gained 10 lbs. and no, it was not muscle.

I was really at the point for needing something different. I knew that just the running wasn't cutting it for my body anymore. I needed cardio but in a different way that would really strengthen me. Plus, I needed a change in my nutrition. I was always a fairly healthy eater but again, needed a change. I had heard of clean eating but just didn't understand it all. 

One day, I saw a friend post about Focus T25 and that invests only 25 minutes long. Honestly, that spoke to me!  I knew I had 25 minutes a day and could commit to that kind of workout. 

So, what did I do?  I got into Pinterest and searched Focus T25. Up popped a bunch of pictures, I clicked on one and instantly found a blog that I was drawn to. I started reading all about the program and clean eating on this blog and then saw that there was a Challenge/accountability Group that would give me support and the motivation I needed. 

I'll be honest with you. I looked at the cost of the program and cost was an initial concern of mine. I knew that I needed to get the Challenge Pack which included the Shakeology for a month but at the same time I was still nervous to invest the money. 

I had conversations back and forth with my coach and developed a relationship with her and a trust that this product was legit and would work if I did... I talked to my husband and we decided that the investment in my health was the most important thing. If this was something that I would commit to doing, that would help me lose some weight and become more healthy AND build my confidence, then this was worth it!

So I took that leap of faith and jumped right into the challenge group 
with my T25 Challenge Pack...It's been worth every penny and I haven't looked back...I'm in the best shape of my life!!

As I was searching on my coach's blog I noticed that there was a way that I could get my future Shakeology at a discount...and not only that, but that I could turn this into a business that could help me reach dreams of FREEDOM and open up opportunities to myself and my family.   So...I started asking questions. I came to the conclusion that this was by far the best option for once again I jumped right in. I took that leap of faith and trusted that my coach would not only lead me in my transformation but in my new health/fitness business. 

Now, I'm not an expert in nutrition, I am not a trainer...I am a mom of 3 kids who has struggled with weight at various times in my life. I've hated working out at times and I've loved working out at times.   I've yo-yo dieted and I've tried different fads. I'm human and I make mistakes. I boch my nutrition and eat too many sweets or wine. And sometimes I nail my nutrition.

But what I AM is PASSIONATE. I'm passionate about helping other women and moms change their unhealthy past and get healthy. Love their body again. Feel comfortable in their own skin and in their swimsuits. 

I'm PASSIONATE and I BELIEVE I can make a difference!!  Even if it is just making a difference in ONE persons life!  ONE person. That's all it would take to make my coaching job worth every minute!!

This year for me is a year of stepping out of my comfort zone!  My "word" for the year (or words) is GET UNCOMFORTABLE!  I know that in order for me to truly have the FREEDOM I want for our family, that I have to GET UNCOMFORTABLE!  Complacency is not an option.  It doesn't get you to where you want to be!  So, every single day I'm searching ways to get out of my comfort zone!!  I know I will reach my goals this year!!  Nothing will get in my way!
