Who am I? My Why, Part 1 and Part 2

I'm 35 years old and I've finally discovered who I am!

"WHO AM I" has been a constant question I’ve asked myself over the past 12 years as a mom.  I’ve tried on different hats to see if they fit, but they never do.  Why?  Because they're not MY hats!  We wear many, and that’s ok, but you have to figure which ones fit.  

Who am I?  What is your purpose drive that makes you YOU?  Have you discovered what YOU want in life?

I’ve admired my husband from the first day I met him 16 years ago.  He knew exactly what he was going to do in life.  He was driven, he had purpose, he had a goal in mind. His goal...Law School.  

Throughout college, I didn’t have a clear goal or purpose or career in mind.  Yes, I was driven to be successful, get good grades, do well and learn.  But my major was vague, I didn’t have direction or know WHAT I wanted to do after college.  I didn’t know what career path I wanted to pursue.  

I applied for a number of different jobs in all different areas and career types.  I worked for about a year before having our first son, then part time another year before having our second child.  From there, despite the school loans that were piling up, I began my “career” as a stay at home mom for the next 12 years.  At that time, I found my purpose through being home with my children.  

However, I still longed and had a desire to be successful in a career, outside of being a mom.  I craved to fulfill that deeper sense of purpose I knew I had in life, but wasn’t fully living out.  

Who am I?  What is your purpose drive that makes you YOU?  Have you discovered what YOU want in life? You are here to do great things! Early in our marriage, I had a taste of being an entrepreneur.  I fell in love with the possibility that anyone could be successful, despite their background.  It definitely planted a seed in my mind that “success is possible” even for ME.  However, I made excuses that really came down to a belief in ME, so, I pushed it away and told myself “I’m not as good as them”.  

A few other times I found entrepreneurial ventures that I could do while my kids were at home.  While they were successful, I didn’t have a clear purpose and belief in WHAT I was doing, and ultimately in ME...that I could succeed.  

Fast-forward to August 2013, when I was introduced to Beachbody.  Health and fitness had already begun to gain traction and importance in my life.  I was first introduced to the fitness programs through Beachbody and then soon learned of the coaching and business side of it, which intrigued me.  The entrepreneurial seed had already been planted in my heart and I knew that’s what I loved - be your own boss, work flexible hours, earn an income, all from home!  

I saw this as a great opportunity personally to get healthy and fit, pay it forward and help others do the same, and to grow and earn an income that could really change our lives.  I knew I was a great encourager and motivator and health and fitness was something I was passionate about!

I jumped in as a coach and truly fell in love with the company, their mission, and helping my challengers....but I felt lost at the same time.  My WHY has always been for my give us the freedom from my husband’s long hours, flexibility (in time and finances) to take family vacations, to be able to pay off school loans and credit card debt.  That’s never changed…

But, I hadn’t been completely honest with myself.  My family is Part 1 of my WHY...but I am the Part 2!  It may sound selfish, and that’s ok.  The other part of my WHY is to SUCCEED at something outside of being a mom.  To truly find my deep passion and purpose in life.  To know that I am capable of great success, paying off debt, supporting my family.  I crave the pat on the back that says “well done, you did amazing, you did more than anyone ever thought possible!”  Let’s be honest, as moms, we don’t always get that!

As a student I worked my tail off and got straight A’s.  There was great accomplishment when I received that final grade I earned, there was recognition as I walked across the stage to get my diploma and heard my name called followed by “Cum Laude”.  I’ve not allowed myself to crave that success since I graduated from college.  But the desire is there, it’s waiting to be unleashed and achieved!

• I am a wife, a mom of 3, I am saved by the blood of Christ.  
• I am a health and fitness Entrepreneur who can help you start a business for yourself from scratch.  
• I empower women to see beyond what they haven’t accomplished yet in life and help them find their purpose outside of their children.

• I always have laundry waiting to be folded, dirty dishes in the sink, things that don’t get done.  I get sidetracked by bright shiny objects, I’m a homebody, I love family time, I love books but have never been a strong reader (therefore I don’t enjoy reading...which is something I am changing).  Sometimes my husband is a better “wife/mom” than me...he helps keep the house and kids in line and is definitely my better half!

• I love to snow ski, hike, take family vacations and “escape from reality”.  

• I have struggled to find out who I really am, what I truly want in life and have felt like I’ve been “going through the motions of life” with no clear focus, purpose and direction.  I have struggled with confidence,  belief in myself and poor body image.  I often fear what other think of me, I fear screwing up big time and that I'm not "good enough" (whatever that means).  But...I continue to grow everyday and develop as a person and I strive to push through these struggles and fears and become the best version of me that I possibly can!  I am a constant work in progress!

• My dream is to pay off our school loans, credit card debt, save for our kids’ future education, to be able to have the option to retire my husband (not that he wants to, but to give him that freedom to choose what he wants to do and not be confined to job just to provide for us).  
Beachbody is the avenue in which I KNOW these dreams can come true for our family.

We make sacrifices every day for our children and our families, but there comes a time in our life where we must, as women and moms, be able to say “what do I want?”  How do I want to grow, succeed, influence, and impact this world?  Then, we must have the freedom and the opportunity to spread our wings and build our dreams on the way down!  This IS possible for YOU too!!

This has taken a long time for me to be able to put my thoughts and feelings into words. My hope is that this has helped at least one person be able to put their journey, story, thoughts into words. I'm passionate about empowering women to find their passion and be able to see their dreams being lived out. Hammer and Chisel Review - Week 3

I'm officially finished with week 3 today.  So...I actually started the program over on January 4th.  I had been sick some over Christmas and also we were out of town for a week skiing and so I missed my workouts then!!  So it was time for a RESET!!

But...that's ok!  Sometimes that's what we have to do!

Bottom line...I am LOVING this program!  It seriously is my soulmate workout...for sure!!  I've really developed a love for lifting weights and H&C gives a really great balance of moves during the workout so you don't feel like you're just sitting there pumping iron!

Now, if you're one that is counting all your steps on your Fitbit and want those extra steps for your cardio workout, they won't add up with this workout on a regular basis, but that's ok, you're building muscle and MUSCLE BURNS FAT!!!

I'm constantly sore, which, I actually love that feeling of being sore when I know it's because I'm getting stronger!  I know my body takes a while to "react" to my workouts.  I'm not one of those who starts a program and BOOM, I've got ripped abs and biceps the next day!  (I don't think anyone is like that)...but, I know I'm getting stronger and some of the really hard moves that I modified in week 1 are getting easier!

Hammer and Chisel Review, Game On, Julie Little Fitness, OK...CONFESSION TIME!!  Nutrition!  Let's get real with nutrition.  Sometimes this part of the program just sucks!  Let's be honest!  I really do eat healthy on a regular basis.  However, I have not been following the meal plan on point!  I always have it in the back of my head of how many containers I need, etc. but I haven't followed it like I should!!  EEEKKKK!

That is changing in week 4!  (Seriously, it's taken me 3 weeks of not doing it 100% to have a wake up call!).  I'm HUMAN too!'s GAME ON and I mean, game face and everything! need to sweat if you haven't been 100% either, just get yourself up and put on your big girl panties and make it right from here on out!  Sound good?  GREAT!!

Here's my plan!  I'm making is super simple for me!

I'm prepping today and simply going to rotate some meals throughout the week!  When I am getting back on track, I have to get some FAST WINS by making it simple!!!

Healthy Baked Apple Crisp Dessert

I have always loved a good apple crisp, but I wanted to make something that would be delicious yet not quite so loaded with sugar!  Or at least be a more "clean" type of sugar (i.e. honey and maple syrup).  So after looking at tons of recipes, I'm attempting to build my own version of a Healthy Apple Crisp!!

First, you've got to have a base of green apples!  They're my favorite and any Apple Crisp must have a "tart" base!!

  • 5-7 green apples
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp of cinnamon (I love cinnamon, so more is always better for me!)
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp maple syrup

Crumb Topping
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup almond flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (I told you I love this stuff)
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2-4 Tbsp honey (per your desired sweetness)
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil (melted)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Peel and core the apples ( I have an Apple, Peeler, Corer, Slicer from Pampered Chef that I used and it worked awesome!!).  If you don't have one of those cool gadgets, then peel and core apple and slice in thin slices after cutting apple in half!
  3. Coat the apples with the cinnamon, nutmeg and maple syrup and pour into a 9 x 9 dish.
  4. In a medium bowl combine the oats, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and 
  5. salt together and stir.  
  6. Combine coconut oil and honey together and then add to the dry mixture.  Make sure they are completely combined together.  
  7. Top the apple mixture with the crumb topping!
  8. Bake at 350 degrees F for about 30-40 minutes or until topping is browned.  
Serve warm (and yes, we're going to put some vanilla ice cream on top!)

Team Fearless Change - Are you READY for Change?

The new year is always time to refocus, set new goals, look at what did and didn't work from the previous year.  Well, 2016 is no different!  I have done a lot of that kind of thinking over the last few weeks leading up to the new year.  I review my goals of last year, some that I reached, some that I didn't reach.

So...I took time at the beginning of the year to write out my goals for this year...there are some BIG scary goals on my goal board in regards to my Beachbody business.  Ones that I "set" for last year but really never did the actions in 2015 to push me to reaching those goals.  So this year, I have a new focus, a new drive and a new vision for 2016!  I'm so excited to really push myself, help my team achieve their goals and see where a focused CHANGE, INTENTIONALITY and clear GOALS can take our team this year!!

A byproduct of my hours of reflecting and focusing on the change came in the form of redefining my Team!!  I had come up with a team name before, but I felt like it really didn't encompass the vision and mission of my team in the way I wanted it to!

So...without further ado, I'd like to announce the relaunch of my team,

I'm so excited about this small little change in my business as I really feel like it encompasses the real focus for our team this year.

I've been a coach since August 2013.  I've done well in my business but last year, it didn't progress to the level in which I had planned.  WHY?  Because I didn't focus on the activities and put into action the activities to move my business forward and help others in my team do the same!  I was FEARFUL is what it boiled down to.

I discovered this year in my reflection that I needed to set aside my fears and create ACTION and CHANGE!!  I needed to be FEARLESS and CHANGE!!  No more sitting around "waiting" for my dreams and goals to accomplish themselves...nope, not going to happen.  It requires being INTENTIONAL about what I'm doing.  CHANGING what didn't work well last year and focusing on how to really put into action steps that need to happen this year!

  2. Hosting weekly team calls.
  3. Not being a collector of information, but being one who puts the information into action!
  4. Setting deadlines for my goals and helping my coaches set deadlines to help reach their goals!
  5. Host monthly training groups to help my coaches succeed in the areas they are most needing!
  6. BEING FEARLESS and letting go of the chains of fear that have held me back from reaching the potential I am made for!
  7. Helping my coaches see their potential and pouring into them for their success!
  8. Being WILLING TO CHANGE, personally, as a coach, a friend, a wife and mom!!  
  9. Being TEACHABLE

Butternut Squash Soup

Butternut squash is one of my most favorite foods...and then when you make it into a soup, it just makes everything better!!  I've had many different recipes with this. One I used to make was very time consuming and had lots of cream in it.  However, I discovered that you really don't need to add tons of extra calories to it to make it delicious!  Simple is delicious too!

This is super easy, healthy and delicious!

First, I'll say I take the easy way out now and buy the already cut into cubes butternut squash.  Personally I hate cutting squash.  If you're really looking to save money, buy a whole squash and cut it up!  I buy the precut at Costco and then roast the squash!

Healthy Butternut Squash Soup, 21 Day Fix Approved Recipe,, Julie Little FitnessIngredients:

2 lbs of Butternut Squash cubed
2 tsp Melted coconut oil
Kosher Salt to taste
1 onion chopped
1 clove garlic
Chicken Broth (as needed)


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. Toss squash and melted coconut oil together until coated
  3. Bake butternut squash for 20-25 min or until soft and browned
  4. Brown the chopped onion and garlic in a skillet
  5. Transfer roasted squash and onion in blender
  6. Add about a cup of broth to blender and blend
  7. Continue to add liquid as needed for desired consistency
  8. Add salt and pepper to taste

Serve hot!
