Battle of the Bulge - Spring Health and Fitness Accountability

Spring is here and do you know what that means?  SUMMER is right around the corner!  Yep...bathing suits, beaches, pools, shorts, tank tops... All of that!

Well, I know sometimes it's easy to let winter go by and stay cuddled up because it's cold and a good excuse to allow the pounds to pack on!  Not that it's something we set out to do...but it just happens!!

If you're ready to get that winter layer off and feel confident for summer then NOW is your time to do that!  Seriously, it's March...by the time the kids are out of school by June, you'll want to be ready to feel good and be active!  That's a solid 2 months that you have to really be serious about getting back in shape!

There is no time like the present to BATTLE THE BULGE!!

There's nothing worse than not feeling confident in your skin when you're trying to have a great time with your kids at the pool!  I've been there for sure!  You know the times...you take off your coverup and still want to sit there "covered up"...yet at the same time try and keep convincing yourself that you feel great!  Ladies...now is the time!!

Starting on March 14th, we will begin our PREP WEEK for the Battle of the Bulge.

This will be a 30 day accountability and support group.  This is for people who are SERIOUS about getting their health and fitness back in shape!  It's not for anyone who isn't COMMITTED!!

I'm a Stay at Home Mom - Can I Really Make Money from Home?

I am a mom of 3 beautiful children, Jeremy - 11, Katelyn - 10 and Anthony - 7.  I started having babies when I was 23 and been a stay at home mom (with some part-time jobs for "fun" money) for the last 11 years!  I have been super blessed to be able to stay at home as I know it's not necessarily possible for everyone.

I remember when the kids were infants and toddlers and just wanting to be able to talk so someone who could carry on a conversation back with me!  I thought I would go crazy at times not having adult interaction and an outlet!  I knew I never really had a "career" but also knew I was made for greatness, in something outside of my children!!  Moms...do you ever feel this way or remember this feeling?

Well...I'm here to tell you it's possible!  Sometimes as a stay at home mom, we can really fall into a trap of feeling guilty, for many different reasons... whether it's finances, social, or a longing for something more.  It's normal, don't beat yourself up!

I often wondered if there was something I could do, from home, that would help ease those guilty feelings I had so often.  And, while this opportunity came to me later than I wished it had...I'm so happy I jumped on the opportunity when it DID come to me!!

Ok...I will!

As a Beachbody Coach you have the freedom to have all these things listed above...or whatever it is that speaks to your heart!!  As a coach, I own my own health and fitness business and I help people lose weight and get healthy!  I'm basically their accountability and support system.   MOMS, we do this every day with our children.  We lift them up to be better people, we pour into their lives because we want them to succeed, we offer out encouragement and support because we know they are worth it!!  Seriously...it's not that complicated!  As a mom, I'm perfectly qualified to be a Beachbody Coach!!

You DON'T have to be:

  • A fitness expert
  • A nutrition expert
  • A personal trainer
  • At your goal weight
  • (You don't even have to be a mom!!! ;) )


You DO have to:

  • Have a desire to help others
  • Have a desire to work on your health
  • Be teachable
  • Be a team player
  • Love to have fun


MOMs...YOU are worth it!  You have the ability and capacity to succeed at anything you set your mind to!  You are doing amazing work at home raising your children, I KNOW it's not easy.  I know we don't get the praise and pats on the back that we all deserve!  Being a mom is the hardest job ever, yet it's so rewarding!!  That's how I feel about Beachbody Coaching.  It's not rocket science to be a coach...there are times when it's tough, but the rewards of helping others succeed at becoming healthy, saving lives by helping people get off medications or just get active and moving again, it is SO REWARDING!!!  To get the reminder from challengers that you changed their life by helping them gain their life back.  It restores that missing piece of the puzzle that I think mom's don't get enough of... PRAISE of a job well done!  It feels good to help others!

How to Meal Prep for the 21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme

This is a follow up post from a previous post, How to Meal Plan for the 21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme.  I wanted to give you the next steps after you PLAN for your week, then, how do you PREP for your week in order to have great success!!

You've created your meal plan for the week.  In creating this, I like to do things that will make it easy for me to prep.  So for example, I'll double up on my lunches so I can make a lot of one thing at one time to save me time!  Many times I'll eat the same thing for lunch because it's easy to prep!

What has given me the GREATEST success! 
Obviously, planning gives me the greatest success for the week.  But my PREP and the time I spend making my meals easy for me to stick to throughout the week is a close tie to the planning!

How I go about my prep for the week depends on how exactly I plan my week of meals!  I really like to have my lunches made for the week so that I KNOW I have that finished and I don't have to put things together when I'm in a rush!

1.  Make a List:  Check your menu for what you don't have and what you need at the store so that you have EVERYTHING you need to prep for your week!

2.  Go Shopping:  I like to buy the bulk of my stuff at Costco because I know I can get my ground turkey, organic chicken, a lot of my veggies and frozen fruits for my Shakeology, eggs, and things I know I use a lot of I purchase there!

3.  Consolidate prep work:  Take a look at your menu and see what you can do all at the same time for prepping.  For example, if you have salad for your lunches, chop all the veggies at one time and set them aside so that you don't have to do veggies all separately for every single salad.

Chop all the veggies for your recipes all at one time, it will save you time!  Then, just set them aside until you need to use them.

4.  Plan your cooking:  I like to look at my meals, see what I can make and package ahead of time or what can be frozen for quick thawing for snacks or lunches.  Whatever I can cook ahead of time over the weekend that will save me time is key for success!

Protein is great to cook in advance.  I like to grill a few chicken breasts, turkey burgers, boil eggs for snacks.  All of this saves me time and assures that I have my meal like I planned!

I even like to make it super easy and cook up a bunch of veggies for my lunch and have it in a "to-go" box so I can grab my lunch and eat it quickly!

5. Bag your Snacks:  Make it easy on yourself.  Cut up your veggies for snacks, measure them out and bag them up so you've got your veggies ready to go!  Same for your fruit or nuts.  The easier you can make it the more chance you have of succeeding!

6.  Package your Meals:  Once I've got all my protein and veggies cooked and chopped then I set out my containers (check out my cool containers I store my food in, I love them!) and start measuring my food and dumping them into my containers to pop into the fridge!  I truly do it assembly line style.  I set out all my lunches and snacks that I need these containers and fill them up, put the lid on and put it in the fridge for later!

Here's a list of things I will prep ahead:
  • Cook ground turkey for meals
  • Grill Chicken
  • Grill turkey burgers
  • Make turkey meatballs or turkey muffins
  • Make egg muffins
  • Boil eggs
  • Cut & bag veggies (bell peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots)
  • Cook veggies (roasted Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, broccoli, asparagus)
  • Bag my walnuts or almonds
  • Prep salads
  • Cook brown rice or quinoa
  • Roast sweet potatoes

Prep veggies

Now, depending on what you have planned for your dinners.  I've done various things.  If I have enough time to prep my dinners or even make ahead and freeze, then I will do this on the weekend.  Otherwise, I at least know that I have all my ingredients I need to make my dinner.  I love being able to prep and freeze ahead because as a busy mom, it just saves me so much time!
